This FAQ attempts to answer some of the more frequently asked questions about Inside Mac Games Magazine (aka IMG). It provides information to those who are both unfamiliar and familiar with the magazine. If you have a question about Inside Mac Games and it is not covered by FAQ, please contact us. Q: What is Inside Mac Games Magazine?
A: Inside Mac Games is the only magazine in the world solely devoted to Macintosh entertainment software. It was created in 1993 to provide Macintosh users with the latest news, information, previews, and reviews of the hottest, new Macintosh games. What began as a floppy disk magazine blossomed in October of 1994 into a CD-ROM magazine.
Today, Inside Mac Games is published 10 times a year on CD-ROM and has a readership of over 25,000 worldwide.
Q: Can you e-mail me some information about Inside Mac Games?
A: Sure. Our e-mail system can automatically send you replies to some of the more frequently asked questions. In most cases, you’ll get a response to your e-mail within a few hours! To use this automated e-mail system, send us an e-mail and in the Subject part of your e-mail, type one of the following:

Q: What is included on each CD-ROM issue of Inside Mac Games?
A: Plenty! Each month IMG provides exclusive sneak previews of upcoming games as well as reviews of the hottest new games. Each issue of IMG also includes interviews with top game designers and publishers, feature columns like Ross Rubin's Fair Game and Apple's Eric Klein's The Evangelism Zone, Strategy & Tactics, Hints & Tips, The IMG Game Poll, and much more.
On the CD-ROM itself you'll find folders chalk full of new commercial game demos, exciting new shareware games, bug fixers, patchers, cheater programs, walkthru’s, FAQ’s, an extensive publisher list, scenarios (tons of Marathon, DOOM, and Dark Forces levels), a catalog of past reviews (coming soon), a database of hints and tips (coming soon), special offers, and more.
Inside Mac Games is simply the most complete source for gaming information news and information, demos, shareware, you'll find anywhere.
Q: How much is a subscription to Inside Mac Games?
A: Subscriptions to Inside Mac Games CD-ROM Magazine are priced at $59 for a one year subscription (10 issues) and mailed via First Class. International Subscriptions (anywhere outside the United States) are $79 and are mailed via Air Mail.
Q: I've never seen IMG, how can I get a demo or sample issue?
A: Each month we upload small demo version of IMG to ftp sites, eWorld, America Online and CompuServe. Keep in mind that the demo versions are just a sampling of what's included in each issue of IMG. While the demo version of IMG is about 1 MB in size, the actual magazine is over 600 MB in size.

Q: Is IMG available at the newsstands or available on paper?
A: No to both questions.
Q: How do I sign up for a subscription?
A: At the end of this FAQ you'll find a subscription order form. You can e-mail, phone, fax, or snail mail subscriptions to Inside Mac Games. Please check with our addresses at the end of the FAQ.
Q: I'd like to get a subscription, but I'm kind of hesitant. What if I don't like the magazine?
A: We offer an unconditional money-back guarantee. So, if you don't like the first issue you get, call us and we'll send you a full refund.
Q: What's the difference between the demo and CD-ROM version of IMG?
A: The demo version contains about 1/5 of the articles that on the CD-ROM version of Inside Mac Games. Plus, there's tons of demos, shareware games, QuickTime movies, bug fixes, cheaters, scenarios and more on each CD-ROM! You just can't compare the two. The free demo version about 1 MB versus 640 MB for the CD-ROM version.
Q: Does IMG have a web page?
A: Not yet, we will have one up in a few months.
Q: Does IMG have a BBS?
A: Ditto, not yet, but we're working on creating a First Class BBS.
II. NEW SUBSCRIBER QUESTIONS

Q: How long does it take for my subscription to start?
A: It can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks to receive your first issue. International subscribers should allow 4-6 weeks for their first issue.
Q: How can I find out when the latest issue was shipped?
A: Send us an e-mail and make the Subject of your e-mail: Status. Within a few hours you'll get an e-mail with information on when the latest issue was shipped and when the next one will ship.
Q: IMG shipped a few weeks ago and I still haven't gotten it, what should I do?
A: E-mail or call us and tell us what your current address and what issue you are missing. We'll be happy to send you another CD right away!
Q: IMG is published 10 times a year. What months do you not publish?
A: IMG does not publish in July or January.
Q: My IMG arrives about every 5 weeks. Is this normal?
A: Yes, because we are on 2 five months production schedule, we stretch out the issues to about every 5 weeks. So, while you may get the August issue in late July, you should expect to get December in late December or early January. This is normal.
Q: There's a crack on my latest CD issue. How can I get a new one?
A: E-mail, phone, fax, or snail mail us asking for a new copy. Do not send us the cracked CD, we believe you. By the way, e-mailing is definitely the best and fastest way! THERE'S NO NEED TO MAIL US BACK THE BROKEN CD.
Q: I need to change my address, how do I do this?
A: Again, E-mail, phone, fax, or snail mail us as soon as you know your new address. If you don't change your address, your issues WILL NOT be forwarded to you by the postal service! It will be returned to us, causing even further delays in getting your issue. Bottom line, send us your changes of address asap!
Q: What happens if I don't change my address AND I don't leave a forwarding address at the post office.
A: Your issues will be returned to us AND since we don't have a forwarding address, your subscription will be put on hold until you contact us.
Q: How can I find out when my subscription runs out?
A: On the CD-ROM mailer you get each month, you'll see on the address label a date on the top right corner. For example, it might say, "May96." That means your subscription runs out in May of 1996.
Q: Okay, how do I renew? I don't want to miss a single issue of IMG!
A: You will get two notices in the mail about a month or so before your subscription runs out. You can use the renewal notice that comes in the mail to renew or simply make a new order form using the IMG Order Form and e-mail, fax, phone, or snail mail us an order form. Just make sure you mark on the form that this is a renewal. You can renew your subscription at any time.
III. MAGAZINE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

Q: I noticed that the when I open the magazine, my screen turns a weird color, is this normal?
A: Yes, the magazine is using a different color palette for the cover and ads in the magazine. This is normal.
Q: The QuickTime movies are choppy and some of them don't play at all, what can I do?
A: Try turning off RAMDoubler and all unnecessary extensions. On a small percentage of Apple CD-ROM drives, the QuickTime movies will refuse to play properly. Frankly, we don't know why. We suggest you try playing the movies from outside the magazine using Pete's player found in the Movies folder.
Q: I tried a demo from the magazine, and it crashed. What can I do?
A: Try turning off RAMDoubler and all unnecessary extensions. Try playing the demo from outside the magazine. Go to the Demos folder and try the demo from there. Also try to copy the demo to your hard drive and see if that helps. If none of these work, get in touch with the publisher, they might be able to solve your problem. Please don't contact us, we do not create the demos, the publisher will be better able to answer your questions regarding their demos.
Q: How can I order back issue of IMG?
A: Yes, check out the IMG Back Issues Index found in the More Goodies folder. After you've decided which back issues you'd like, use the IMG Order Form to order back issues. Back issues are $10 each ($12 outside the U.S.).
Q: What's the IMG Bookstore and how do I order from it?
A: The IMG bookstore offers a variety of strategy guides, programming books, and more. To get a list of what books are available, send us an e-mail and in the Subject header of the e-mail, type IMG Bookstore. A current list of books available through IMG will be automatically send to you! Use the IMG Bookstore Order form to order the books.
